If you mean there should be a happy smiley in your Yahoo toolbar, you are wrong. What you can do is look in Start button/all programs/yahoo messenger or just "messenger". Watch out for the windows messenger.

Reply:Open a chat window to chat with anyone. There is a "Call" button at the top-left corner of the chat window. Use noise cancelling headphones for best effect!

In the messenger buddy list whats the little yellow star thingy that pops up beside a person's status smiley?

When I am in my buddy list sometimes I notice that some of my buddies have a yellow star out beside there name...like to the left next to the status smiley. buts its just past the busy red circle thing....it comes on sometimes when they are away and when they are avaliable....WHAT IS THIS THING???????

its a 360 update notification. it can be anything from new blog entry to a new feed for that contact. if you click the "star" it should automatically send you to that persons 360 page.

Everytime I try 2 sign into Messenger the window kills itself. I get a bunch of shaded smiley's and no chat!

It used to work perfectly, but I think I must have picked up a virus on this computer. I can chat on my work computer using the same screen name, so the problem is on my home computer.





Right now I can see four gray shaded smiley's on my Start bar, one for each time I've tried to fire up Messenger while writing this message. When I place the mouse over them, they each disappear! When I click on Messenger to start it up, I very briefly see the outline of the Messenger window, but then it disappears and never fires. What the heck is going on here?!?





I've run multiple Adaware scans, and removed Messenger from my hard drive and re-downloaded it several times. I'm completely stumped here...

My impression is a virus or malware. But, first uninstall the IM program and re-install it. If it still doesn't work then research a new anti-virus and spy-ware tool





Also, when most programs that put an icon in the task tray "die", they will leave the icon in the tray. Usually moving the mouse over the top of the bad icon will make Windows "house clean" and remove it.
Reply:Your computer may simply not have enough memory (RAM) to run this program in addition to the other programs it has open. Restart your computer and close any extra programs you may have running in the background before attempting to open your Y! Messenger program.

Please check your net connection setting and diable the pop up blocker. Reset total blocked to Zero.

Is there a way OTHER THAN SMILEY CENTRAL to add emoticons to Yahoo! Mail (not Yahoo! Messenger)?

use incredimail then you can add graphic paper animations and smileys to your mail
